Buffet Lunch – “Whitsun Sound”

UK post-punk scrappers Buffet Lunch crop up here once again, with a new single for their forthcoming album Perfect Hit!, out in April on Upset The Rhythm. The song, an ode to leisure time rooted in the rigors of serfdom, celebrates in a way that only the Lunch can. Acerbic, brittle and buttoned to a beat that’s insistent to the point of panic, “Witsun Sound” breathes down the neck of the listener before it breaks into a buzzing, narcotic fray. The band pairs it with an unsettling animation, chewing on the rituals and rights of religion, tossing its historical context into the uncanny valley. The new album is out April 4th.
