Beefheart & McQuinn – “Do It Again”

Been sitting on this one since Friday, having been away for the day, but there’s probably no better way to crack into the week than this new single from Beefheart & McQuinn. The duo’s upcoming LP is one of my big anticipations for 2026. The pair, Moby Beefheart aka William Murray (Fur) and Melbourne/Naarm musician Winter McQuinn (Sunfruits) connected on a pre-album single last year that set the tone for what’s to come, and with “Do It Again” they make good on the early promises of “Hand In Hand.” “Do It Again” pairs a chugging blues to their breezy folk, feeling like Paul Simon ditched Art G for JJ Cale and set simmer against Spring breeze for an earworm that latches tight. The single is the first from their upcoming new album, Midtown Downtime, out May 8th from Rainflower Records.
