Beachwood Sparks – “Gentle Samuri”

The new Beachwood Sparks album is topping my most anticipated pile for 2024 and the band let out what might be my favorite single from the new album at the tail end of last week. “Gentle Samuri” is a classic Beachwood tune in all respects. From the cosmically twined harmonies to the hazy veneer that glints in the afternoon sun, it’s the kind of song that would have fit perfectly among the cocooned comforts of Once We Were Trees. A gentle twang pushes the song, but it’s those bucolic harmonies, reaching back to the band’s love of The Byrds, that really cement the song as a Summer classic. This week’s about to be brutal across the North American stretches, this might come in handy to cool down the days. The band’s new album, Across the River of Stars is out June 29th from Curation Records.
