Andrew Sa – “Lavender Cowboy”
A tender-hearted country crooner that’s crafted as a tribute to the lost legend Patrick Haggerty, “Lavender Cowboy” is the first single off of Andrew Sa’s debut LP. Sa’s been around these parts before, digging into a deck of covers as he emerged from his Lonesome Andrew persona and sparring melancholy missives with Liam Kazar. Here, he pays homage to Haggerty, a mentor and friend who paved way for more than a few in the gay country scene with his 1973 album Lavender Country. The song ruminates on a hero who spent years on and off the stage pushing boundaries and challenging systems. Sa’s debut album, produced by H.C. McEntire, features the North Carolina songwriter on several tracks, alongside RSTB fave Rosali. The new album, American Rough, is out June 26th from Bloodshot Records.
