The Hanging Stars – “All Your Yesterdays”
Another tender cut from RSTB faves The Hanging Stars pairs the band’s love of jangle-pop with soft blushes of Americana. “All Your Yesterdays” glows with a hearth light heat, a comforting flicker of the familiar dressed up in strums, organ swells, and earthen harmonies. The new album was recorded with Gerard Love (Teenage Fanclub) alongside Dexys’ Sean Read, solidifying the band’s hold on as they continue into their sixth album. The new single strikes an introspective tone, as frontman Richard Olson explains, “I often think about the now. The now we always take for granted. The now that just passed and became history just seconds ago.” It’s that fleeting, bittersweet quality that sits at the heart of the song, the tension between dreams deferred and a life quietly, unexpectedly lived, expressed in the lyrics.“ The new album, Just A Day, is out June 19th from Loose Music.
