Václav Havelka – “Sky Feathers”

Czech singer-songwriter, producer and activist Václav Havelka introduces a new album with the patient, potent meditation on acceptance, “Sky Feathers.” With a weathered croon that recalls deep forest missives from Leonard Cohen or David Berman, the first single rises like smoke from the speakers. Atop a patter of hand drums, provided by Thro Harris (Water Damage, Swans), the song vibrates with a quivering disquiet. Harris isn’t the only familiar name to show up on Havelka’s upcoming A Snake Crawling Up a Broken Ladder. The record also features contributions from William Tyler (Silver Jews, Lambchop), James Toth (Wooden Wand), Ben Chasny (Six Organs Of Admittance), Dallas Acid, Marisa Anderson, Matt Swanson (Lambchop), Tony Crow (Lambchop, Silver Jews), and Dana Janssen (Akron/Family). The new album is out May 31st from Animal Music and Primordial Void.
