Magus – “Through Darkened Glass”

The second single from Magus continues down a darkened path, away from the psychedelic folk and bucolic environs of Greg and Jessica Weeks’ past. Even the bittersweet swaddling of their tenures in Espers and The Valerie Project seem bright under the spell of Magus’ second single, “Through Darkened Glass.” With a gothic air, and a penchant for the doom-laden corners of folk, the new band injects a dread befitting out current times into the equation. The song rumbles in on notes of thunder, twining knotted guitar lines around the blackened growl. The Weeks are joined by longtime foils Jesse Sparhawk on bass and Ben McConnell on drums, rounding out their prog-folk four piece and setting the stage for the upcoming Music For Mandrax. The new album is out April 17th from the reignited Language of Stone.
