Cochemea – “Dilo”

Another Friday find that’s bound to start the week off right; this one is a b-side from Cochemea, recorded along with the Ancestros Futuros sessions, but left off the final version of the album. A rhythmic wonder, the cut is built on everything that makes Gastelum’s work vital, from the woven tapestry of percussion to Cochemea’s searing sax. I caught the full band at the top of their bi-coastal tour last week, and I can tell you, if the band is coming close, you should clear your schedule and get out to a show. The new single is up digitally, and for the completists, comes paired on a 7” with the now classic “Mitote.” Both versions are out now from Daptone.
