Daniel Romano’s Outfit – “Cardinal Star”

Must be slipping these days because I missed the second single from the new Daniel Romano. No worries, though, because punctual or procrastinated, the band’s new album is gonna grab you when it hits next month. Following the jumped-up power pop of the first single, the band lays back a touch into the grove of grooves for this one. Letting Carson McHone take the reigns, “Cardinal Star” cools the band’s usual burn, trading some back and forth between her verses and Romano’s comedown choruses. The song’s sinks down to its knees on the stage, a comfortable caress for the speakers and a moment to catch your breath between the rock revival of Preservers of the Pearl. The new album is out March 13th from You’ve Changed Records.
