The Thorn – “Of The Birds”

Sneaking out last week, a new single from RSTB favorites The Thorn embraces the damp dredge of winter. The band, essentially a shuffled lineup of Large Plants, the post Wolf People band from Jack Sharp, returns to the same shores they haunted on their last single. Wrapped in the woodsy folk of Fairport, Trees, and Pentangle, roasted with a bit of Crazy Horse singe, “Of The Birds” adorns itself with the trappings of classic psych-folk and Anglican rock. The song swirls in tide pools of soft anguish before lighting a fire in the amps, rolling the cut in the grist of those Crazy Horse hues. The new single is out now, direct from the band.
