2nd Grade – “Teenage Overpopulation”
by Andy
I’ve been negligent in highlighting the new album on the way from Philly power pop pounders 2nd Grade. The band has been putting out candy-coated gems delivered in fun sized packages for a few years now and their dedication to outsized ‘90s riffs winking humor never get old. The setup on “Teenage Overpopulation” owes more than a slight debut to Fountains of Wayne and Red Kross before them, winding up generational divide and youth worship with a wry smile and the kind of hooks that would’ve had them lacquered onto a high school comedy in another age. The new album, Easy Listening is out Friday on Double Double Whammy.
