Prism Shores – “Kid Gloves”
Following quickly on their pop volley from last year, Montreal’s Prism Shores return to Meritorio for a new album full of fuzzed tension, jangled joy, and harmonies hooked on syrup n’ sighs. The first single out of the band’s upcoming new record, Softest Attack, is the bittersweet bluster of “Kid Gloves.” With the dust of ‘90s college radio sweethearts in their hair, the band latches onto fizzing guitars that poke and prod at the soft caress of jangles. As the song hurtles towards its two-minute terminus, it collapses into soft waves of ennui with just enough crunch sate the indie pop crowd out there. The first taste lingers long on the speakers and begs more than a few spins this morning. The band’s new record, Softest Attack, is out April 10th from Meritorio and Having Fun Records.
