Bart – “Song of Spring”

The upcoming new album from Toronto’s Bart continues to prove chameleonic. Just as “Turncoat” brought about visions of bristly post-punk, the new single “Song of Spring” slips into jazz-rubbed R&B due in large part to soulful vocals from Drew Smith and a warm scarf of sax from Joseph Shabason. Like the much of the album, the song is rooted in a rhythmic ripple with hints of the funk and jazz-psych that reveal themselves more prominently among the offerings on Some Kind of Way. The new album is out April 7th from Idée Fixe.
