Zoh Amba – “Morning Doubt”

There have been a host of excellent tributes over the past few years, vital explorations of the works of artists that deserve a brighter light. Family Vineyard and Feeding Tube team up for another such entry to the canon, a 20+ track examination of the works of Suzanne Langille. The singer-songwriter was often known for her work as a collaborator of Loren Connors, whose releases often appear among Family Vineyard’s ranks. Here, artists from David Grubbs to Alen Licht, Kim Gordon, Jim O’Rourke, Lee Ranaldo, Tom Carter, William Hooker, and Connors himself all find their own foothold on Langille’s works. The first dip in, however, comes from a familiar face. Zoh Amba (Beings) sets the singe of her sax on Langille’s “Morning Doubt,” delivering a searing rendition of the Crucible cut. The new compilation, The Suzanne Langille Songbook, is out April 4th as a collaboration between the two labels.
