Water Damage – “Reel LE”
I’m always looking to see what’s on deck for Longform editions. The conceptual label often encourages bands to expand their sound, seeking out ways hit that meditative plane, and providing a platform for experimentation. Though, sometimes, the label pairs well with an artist already scratching that itch. For the latest batch (which also includes Eli Winter, Babe, Terror, and Post Moves) the label syncs up with Austin’s Water Damage. The band’s already known for sidelong lunges into rhythmic waters and they offer up a welcome companion piece to their recent album on 12xU from earlier in the year. “Reel LE” feels like it was most certainly cut during the sessions that birthed that album and the band’s trademark drone and dirge are on display in full force. The piece is as hypnotic as anything in their catalog, a full-body immersion into the pulsing sound bath. The new EP is out now from Longform Editions.
