Along with Flowertown, Cindy, and April Magazine, Tony Jay closes the circle of Bay Area bands that wander through the fogged end of the indie pop scene. The announcement of a new tape for Paisley Shirt comes with a patient and poignant single, “The Darkest Corner,” part of a new album that ruminates on the pain of helping a pet through dark times and ill health. The song is aloft on a bed of synth and hiss, giving proper ambience to Michael Ramos’s strums and soft delivery. A home-recorded gems that’s built to bridge the bad times, the new record, Knife Is But A Dream, is out August 16th.
