The Stone Rollers – “Spring Rain”

There’s been a steady string of singles out of Raf Spielman’s (Woolen Men, Shop Regulars) side project The Stone Rollers over the past couple of years; charmers each and every one. Stripping down the sound to indie pop with a slight garage itch, the outfit has always employed a kind of home-recorded mussiness. For new single, the aptly titled “Spring Rain,” Spielman balances the bedroom pop with doo wop and ‘50s rock, turning the Bobby Fuller Four into fatalist foragers for indie hooks under a blanket fort of fuzz. The new single burrows into the brain pretty deep, so keep this one on repeat as the spring rains dry up for a few days, making this a sunshine-soaker that’s perfectly paired with some spring air blowing through the windows.
