The Pink Stones – “If I Can’t Win (With You)”

The Pink Stones return, just in time to help the Summer swelter soak in. For their first single, the band slips away from some of their more cosmic elements for a trad swinger that starts slow and sweet. By the time we hit the chorus, the band tumbles twang from the speakers, paring strums n’ smirks with fiddle fills and perfectly poured pedal steel. The band has taken a deliberate tack towards more traditional fare for the new album, albeit with their rambunctious impulses behind the plush arrangements and air conditioned aura. They link up with co-producer/engineer Henry Barbe (Drive-By Truckers, Deerhunter) to flesh out the new sound on the upcoming Thank the Lord… It’s The Pink Stones, out September 19th from Normaltown Records.
