The Means of Production – “Sun, Moon, Wind, Earth”

Been a good year for deep jazz impressions and Brooklyn’s The Means of Production joins the fray with a new single off of their upcoming eponymous album. Initially formed as a studio band for vocalist and member Ben Pirani, the group would expand their role to work with Ralph Weeks and Lizzie No before breaking towards the light as an improvisational entity of their own. The band strives for ‘70s Miles with a nod towards Teo Marcero’s tape editing, and the sound comes through on “Sun, Moon, Wind, Earth.” The song is lounged, languid even, but builds as it drives towards a dynamic finish, sparkling with heady hues and pristine curves. The new album is out June 14th from Royal Potato Family.
