The Laughing Chimes – “High Beams”

The continued evolution of The Laughing Chimes has been a wonder to watch. The band began with Sarah-saturated jangles and has worked their way through the wilds of UK indie and college-bound jangles over the last few years. The band’s latest single, and first off of their upcoming sophomore album, finds the band stalking the shadows of Echo and The Bunnymen, The Church, and The Psychedelic Furs. It’s quite a shift from the band’s debut, but thanks to Slumberland letting them stretch out over a few excellent interim singles, this feels like the well-earned results of a band getting to develop rather than breathlessly chasing the next record. Get lost in the decadent euphoria of “High Beams” and get Whispers in the Speech Machine on the calendar for January 31st.
