The Laughing Chimes – “Cats Go Car Watching”

RSTB faves The Laughing Chimes send out a second single from their upcoming album Whispers In The Speech Machine. A lighter contrast to the heavy drama of previous single “High Beams,” the song pairs its strums with a bit of humor in a homespun video. Still striving for a New Age angle, “Cats Go Car Watching” finds the band pushing aside some of their early jangle pop in favor of sweeping choruses hung on Evan Seurkamp’s increasingly assured vocals. Doused in a bit of Bunnymen and Psychedelic Furs, the band pushes up next to RVG as heirs to the ‘80s drama department. It’s a good look on ‘em and another highlight from the new album.
