The Gabys – S/T

While their output isn’t as prolific as some of their contemporaries, Fruits and Flowers never misses and they offer up another short-form wonder, this time from UK duo The Gabys. The band’s new EP strums through the static, a crusted curio of pop gems that feela like kindred spirit to the soft underbelly of the Bay Area scene. The band throws a silk scarf over the lamp and lets out four late-night gems that sway gently as they slip out of the speakers. Perched between the Christchurch crowd’s most delicate offerings and indie pop’s glass menagerie of tape static sirens, the EP strums, fizzes, foams and sighs through four cuts made to weave into the kind of half-lidded mixtape that’ll get you through the most miserable summer swelter. The new record is out now from Fruits and Flowers.
