Stephen’s Shore – “Carefree Days”

Avatar

A jangled second single from the upcoming new Stephen’s Shore EP sneaks out today and its even better than the first taste they offered up a few weeks back. The Swedish band finds a bit of the California surf in their hair for “Carefree Tyme,” a song that’s dragging its hands in the wake from Real Estate, with its sunblistered vocals. Though, musically the band resembles more recent Byrds acolytes like Triptides or Papercuts as they let those guitars ring out over the windswept waters conjured up on the Green EP. There’s a bittersweet pining to the track, an ache that seems to run through the majority of Stephen’s Shore songs. It’s a nice accompaniment to sunnier days on the horizon. The new EP is out April 15th from Meritorio Records.
