Smote – “Hlaf”
Following the reissue of his Drommon tape last year, UK psych-folk traveler Daniel Foggin is back as Smote with a new album on Rocket Recordings. Steeped in fantastical worlds draped in fog and fantasy, the works of smote conjure damp bogs and high mountains. There’s a thread of dark magic and danger that winds its way through the works of Smote and that comes through heavily on the first offering from the upcoming GENOG. “Hlaf” is laced with flutes and acrid plumes of fuzz guitar. Finding itself sitting squarely between psych scorchers like Voice of the Seven Woods and Six Organs of Admittance, the upcoming record is shaping up to be a heady wander through alchemical ambiance. The new album arrives March 10th from Rocket Recordings.
