Sister Wives – “Ticking Time Bomb”
Lots of music on the dock today and this second single from Welsh quartet Sister Wives lets fuzz-gnarled guitars grab listeners’ attention right quick. The band straddles the punk and post-punk lines and the balance makes for a nice bit of tension in their songs. Percolating bass thrums underneath the track, but it fights the brain for attention from the buzzsaw bleed of the guitars and the band’s glam-struck vocals. The single deals with societal pressure to procreate, the tying of worth between women and children, and body autonomy. The band tears into the topic with a ferociousness that flies in the face of mounting sentiments to turn back the clock on rights worldwide. The song is off the band’s upcoming LP Y Gawres, out October 28th from Libertino Records.
