Sister Wives – “Malady”

Been a couple of years since Sister Wives have been on the speakers, but the UK outfit is back with a new single today. Following the deep-tissue burn of their debut, the new single continues to combine psych-folk and searing rock. With a sound that echoes Josephine Foster’s excellent record with The Supposed alongside contemporaries like The New Eves, the band brings a harder edge as well, spilling blood in ‘90s waters bubbling with tension and bound by a thick layer of fuzz. The new single brings on board new member Rachael Loomes (also of R. Loomes/Haus Horo) rounding the lineup in the wake of original member Liv Willars’ absence. The song, is in the band’s own words, “about how strong females frighten bad men and historically this power is perceived as a sickness, madness, or malady…” It’s an all too timely theme in these times. The new single is out now, with, hopefully, more on the way soon.
