Ryan Baine – “Moonlight Ma”

A nice summer’s breeze blows out of the West today and brings with it the first track from Ryan Baine’s debut LP for Curation Records. Co-written with Sam Blasucci (Mapache), the song has a hazy afternoon air, a stumble of permanent summer underpinned by the glare off the water. The new LP pulls in an familiar stable of musicians from Howlin Rain, Mapache, Grateful Shred, and GospelbeacH, studio stalwarts who’ve been orbiting this arm of the weathered California sound. Here, they’re twisting Ryan’s songs like driftwood into beautiful shapes. The temperment on the upcoming LP, Morning Flight, embraces ‘70s rhythms and ‘90s pulses, but here Baine and Blasucci find themselves at peace in the firelight linger of ‘70s soul and AOR balladry. The new single is out today and the album arrives later this Fall.
