Rose City Band – “Slow Burn”

The new Rose City Band album is almost upon us, arriving this Friday from Thrill Jockey. Before we get there, though the band joins the ranks as the latest to get the video treatment from illustrator and animator Mickey Miles (check out a great interview with Mickey at Wastoids). The clip gussies up their first single “Slow Burn” in the guise of a psychedelic Western road trip, pairing the song’s low gear saunter and buttered guitar lines with an appropriately cosmic caper. The artist’s style fits the song perfectly, slinking through sundown on a faded palette and a puff of smoke. The new record is already ranking high on my list of ’23 essentials. Pick it up if you haven’t because summer’s coming soon and you’re gonna need it.
