Rose City Band – “Seeds of Light”
A second stunner out of the new Rose City Band hits today and it’s just the thing to usher in a little Autumn sun to the week. With a loose strum and light lapping of of Barry Walker’s steel, the song finds the band as bucolic as they’ve ever been. Often engulfed in a haze, Rose City Band strips away a bit of their obfuscation on the new single. Laying back into a taut groove courtesy of John Jeffrey, Ripley trades vocals with Sanae Yamada (Moon Duo, Vive La Void) before the song breaks down into a funk-strung outro. It sits nicely among the cosmic caress of the upcoming Sol Y Sombra, proving just why they’ve been the premiere purveyors of country-psych over the past few years. The new record is out January 24th from Thrill Jockey.
