Holding up another arm in their ambient/psychedelic wing (North Americans, Luke Schneider), Nashville composer Rich Ruth bursts into view with his psychedelic jazz odyssey I Survived, It’s Over. Mixed by John McEntire (The Sea and Cake, Tortoise), the album leans into the post-Hancock drip of some of the psych-jazz newcomers like Djinn, or the kind of ruckus that Dwyer’s been kicking up with his crew lately. The first single blooms with a midnight shake of shells and and sitar before the kaleidoscope bursts of guitar shine through. The album is out August 12th from Third Man.
