Quality Used Cars – “Tullamareena”

Keeping the Aussie country contingent strong, Quality Used Cars strike back this week with a historical exploration of their roots in the Tullamarine area. The song was written in consultation and with permission with the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation, and recounts the tale of Tullamareena, the namesake of the area in the fashion of Western road ballads. Wrapped in soft harmonies, steel, and a splash of brass, Francis Tait lends his tarnished croon to the history of Tullamareena, recounting the Wurundjeri figure’s resilience in the face of colonialism. With a galloping rhythm and a widescreen splash of drama, the band lends a larger platform to one of the continent’s overlooked corners of history. The new single is out now directly from the band.
