Prairiewolf – “Another Tomorrow”
There are plenty of nocturnal vibes on the upcoming Prairiewolf record. It’s an album made for the twilight slip into dusk, but there may be no song more suited to the damp chill and darkness than “Another Tomorrow.” Most of the songs on the upcoming Deep Time employ the easy amble of electronic percussion, but on this one, the band strips things back, letting the cinematic sweep envelop the listener in a moment of darkness that feels like it goes on for miles. The lap steel and keys melt into one another, a somber slinker with a country shiver.
The band’s Jeremy Erwin gives a bit more context to the new single, “Like “Revisionist Mystery” and the album opener, “Peach Blossom Paradise”, this is another fine Tyler contribution. We originally tracked this song with a heavily Space Echo’d rhythm box, but it wasn’t quite happening. We removed the drums on a whim and the track just revealed itself. Opened it right up into this expansive, mildly cinematic vignette, so we really leaned into the high drama. A soundtrack for an imaginary western on an album that’s otherwise pretty light on country flavors.” The new album, Deep Time, is out September 20th from Centripetal Force.
