Omeed & The Natural Scene – “Middling”

Avatar

A super limited release from Omeed Goodarzi along with an contingent of Vermont psych players lands from Feeding Tube and LookyHere. With help from Brattleboro scene stealers Ruth Garbus and Chris Weisman, among others, the assembled Natural Scene channels long gone, but never forgotten VT royalty Feathers (of which Garbus was a member). The record softens in the sun, letting Goodarzi’s songs slide along the axis between folk and tender hearted pop. The balance is struck solid on “Middling,” an afternoon strummer that’s bolstered by Mia Friedman’s fiddle and some warm blanket harmonies. The record is limited to 100 copies on LP and 50 on a risographed CD-r. Those who’ve been missing the faded psych-folk fodder of the early aughts (guilty here) this one should do the trick to set you right. Hop on it quick.
