North Americans’ Going Steady Reissued

Some excellent news out of the Third Man camp today. The label, off their recent release of North Americans album Roped in, has announced that they’re reissuing Patrick McDermott’s previous LP Going Steady. Equally steeped in the ambient ripple of its follow-up, Going Steady was a hard one to get hands on when it was released in 2018. The record was pressed in a scant run of 100 and was a bit of a blink and you missed it release. Again adorned with Brian Blomerth’s tantalizing menagerie of characters, the record thrums along in the same cosmic headspace Suss or Julianna Barwick. Fittingly enough the latter finds herself contributing to the album alongside fellow expanders of the sonic stew, Hayden Pedigo, Meg Duffy (Hand Habits), Dylan Baldi (Cloud Nothings). The new version finds its way out on what I assume is a much more substantial pressing on October 15th.
