Nap Eyes – “Feline Wave Race b/w Ice Grass Underpass”

A pair of new tracks out of Halifax’s Nap Eyes this week marks the first time in three years since the band’s been heard, last knocking around a few covers. The band returns with songs that span the history of the band, reworking a ’09 demo that existed before the band had taken shape and embracing a more languorous, loping aesthetic on the 6+ minute melt of “Feline Wave Race.” The song burrows into a kind of slow blooming bliss, one that feels like a good shift for the band as they ease towards a new era. “Ice Grass Underpass” captures a more classic sound from the band and if it took this long for the band to knock this one into shape, then the whittling and working was worth the wait. The new single is out now on Paradise of Bachelors.
