Mt. Misery – “In The Blink of An Eye”

Avatar

Looks like the excellent new UK label, Prefect Records, is graduating from singles to full lengths with the announcement of the debut from Mt. Misery. While the headlines so far have gone to ex-Joanna Gruesome bands The Tubs and Ex-Void, the Hartlepool band has released a few subtle, yet swoon-worthy janglers. Now they add “in The Blink of an Eye” to their stable of pillowy pop gems. The song is laced with ennui, lamenting the changes in the wake of a relationship. The band lives up to their name, sinking back into sadness with the air of seasoned pros, but they make it feel comfortable. If you missed out on the band’s previous singles “I Was Wrong” and “The Dreaming Days Are Over,” its worth going back in for a dose of dreamy despair. All three will appear on the band’s upcoming Once Home, No Longer which is out June 25th from Prefect.
