Another perennial fave makes a return to RSTB today with a new single from Portland’s Lithics. The band has always been able to capture the best vision of brittle, stark post-punk. Teetering on tearing themselves apart from tension, the band’s guitars find their rubber and rebar edges pulling “Nature Observation Poem,” apart from the inside. A clatter of percussion and Aubrey Hornor’s no-nonsense vocal approach holding the storm together makes this a prime example of Lithic’s at their best. The new single is out as a limited lathe cut, sold out at the source, but the digital remains just as potent.
