Lightheaded – “Same Drop”

A counterpoint to the just announced album from label/tourmates Jeanines, New Jersey faves Lightheaded also announce a new album today for Slumberland (US) and Skepwax (EU/UK). A layered pop confection, the first single from the upcoming Thinking, Dreaming, Scheming!, is a beautifully bittersweet entry into the band’s canon. Digging deeper into the lush end of indie pop, the band’s latest single reclines in shades of Camera Obscura and Veronica Falls. Like their contemporaries in Jeanines they also pull from a ‘60s strain of melancholy, admitting some influence this time around from The Left Banke and Margo Guryan. “Same Drop” swims under overcast skies, turning the jangles into strums and sweetening the scene with a bit of muted brass. The band’s new album arrives June 27th and you can check out a new video for the single by Cynthia Rittenbach above.
