The enigmatic voice of Josephine Foster returns to haunt all of our dreams as her new album Godmother approaches at the end of the month. Following a vital reissue of her tour CD-r What Is It That Ever Was? on Feeding Tube this past year, the songwriter pushes forward into new territory, swaddling her dusk-light folk in a womb of dreampop. “Nun of the Above” is a cosmically-tinged affair that undulates in a full moon splendor, pairing her strident strum with effusive clouds of synth. Foster harmonizes with herself, cartwheeling over her own acrobatic voice to great effect. The new record arrives January 28th on Fire Records.
