Joe Harvey-Whyte & Bobby Lee – “Smoke Signals (BJ Smith Remix)

A new single hits the breeze today from Joe Harvey-Whyte & Bobby Lee’s upcoming Last Ride. The record is one of my most anticipated for 2025, bringing together two of the UK’s best cosmic crusaders into an album that bends country and psych into quicksilver shapes. For the second single from the album, the band brings in Swimming Bell on vocals, turning their Cosmic American saunter into a siren song that engulfs itself in thick clouds of fog. The pair do one better as well, co-releasing a remix by B.J. Smith today on top of the single itself. The remixed version pulls back the haze and turns the track into a soul-splattered vision full of horns and heel turns. It pits rippling hand percussion against the shadows of funk and disco. Swimming Bell’s vocals rise over the clouds here, turning the song into a psych-pop confection that’s hard not to love. The remix and single are out today and the full album arrives on May 16th from Curation Records.
