Jeremiah Chiu & Marta Sofia Honer – “Side by Side (feat. Jeff Parker)”

A couple of familiar names on the site today. Jeremiah Chiu was a big presence around here with SML last year, adding his modular synth to the band’s electrifying debut. He’s long collaborated with viola player Marta Sofia Honer, herself a session veteran with credits that stretch from jazz to pop. The pair preface their upcoming album, Different Rooms, with a new song featuring Jeff Parker’s unmistakable guitar. Patiently padding into the room, the song builds on anticipation bubbling from Chiu’s synths, swept away in Honer’s swells. Despite its smooth exterior, the song holds an inner tension, silently tearing away at the listener. A slow boil of a song, the new single sets up the pair’s new collaboration nicely. The new record is out June 20th from International Anthem.
