Jeffrey Alexander + The Heavy Lidders – “Star Power (Sun Flower Mix)”

RSTB faves Jeffrey Alexander + The Heavy Lidders return with a new take on an old favorite. The original version of “Star Power” crops up on The Lidders’ album New Earth Seed. The version on the record, produced by Chris Forsyth, adds layers of production to turn it into a delightfully hazy, ‘90s-indebted psych-pop sojourn. For their latest record, which is being released in conjunction with a UK tour, the band strips back some of the studio touches. The ‘Sun Flower’ mix reimagines the piece as as shaggy, Dead-oriented tumble through the ether. It lands a bit closer to the band’s live energy. The new record, Synchronous Orbit, will be released May 9th from Cardinal Fuzz and Feeding Tube.
