Howlin’ Rain – “Dharma Wheel (live)”
Another heady entry to the Under the Wheels series of live recordings from Howlin’ Rain is upon us and its one of the band’s most high fidelity captures yet. Recorded live at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, the band runs through a great deal of their just released (at the time) album The Dharma Wheel. The title track opens up the set, pushing the already huge number out to almost twenty minutes of searing guitar greatness. If you’ve ever caught the band live, the stage remains their true home and this series of live recordings only serves to solidify that fact. The set was captured on multi-track by Jon Ballard with additional room recording by legendary Long Beach taper D Man and it’s limited to a handmade batch of 500 split between purple (250) and black (also 250). The new record is out October 14th from Silver Current.
