GROOP – “Marble Hall”
A heady first single out of L.A. improv outfit GROOP. The band, which features current and former members of Hooveriii, Frankie & The Witch Fingers, and Total Heat, has had a 3-year live residency at Zebulon, regularly working through long improvisations and exploratory prog forms with a goal of cutting and culling them into a new record. With an ear towards German progressives and ‘70s psych scorchers, the band mixes Hawkwind and Ash Ra Temple into heat hewn fusions of sound. The first taste of the new album, The Place Is The Space, is the 12+ minute opener “Marble Hall.” Slinking through the speakers, the cut builds to a tumultuous end — a storm of sound and singe that acts as a great introduction to the band’s next phase. The new record is out September 6th from Six Tonnes De Chair.
