Golomb – “Staring”

Another killer from the pop side of Golomb today. “Staring” tumbles out of the speakers on a tangle of drums and urgent guitars that dip from growl to glint. Plush harmonies slip this one between your Dino Jr. and Superchunk chargers on the shelf, and not just because that’s alphabetically correct. The band’s new album often finds them scraping the exploratory edges of space and psychedelia, and they let this one unspool a bit at the end, but the core of the cut bounds through the air with elastic exuberance. The new album, The Beat Goes On, is out July 25th from No Quarter.
