Faun Fables – “Ember Bell”

This is a nice surprise for the morning. Long-running psych folk outfit Faun Fables returns with their first new album since 2016. Produced by the band themselves, the new album, Counterclockwise, finds the band reveling in the comforts of home, surrounded by friends and family. “Ember Bell” soars on Dawn McCarthy’s towering vocals, underpinned by verdant, ‘60s-flecked folk that’s awash in strums and flutes. The band has long skewed towards the Anglican side of the ‘60s and that’s still on full display here, pulling away from the straightforward folk with just a touch of prog in the keys. The band’s new album is out May 30th from Drag City.
