Elkhorn – “Maganulon” 
How’re we gonna hold up in a year with three Elkhorn releases? The band expands the bounty that’s already been spilled, following on their collaborative album with Mike Gangloff, and springboarding off of the news of a new album on the way from VHF with yet another album announcement. This one’s on the way from Feeding Tube and Cardinal Fuzz and it’s a completely different kind of beast, packing away the acoustic/electric interplay for a more classic power trio format. Jesse, as he does with The Heavy Lidders, takes on the bass, evolving the duo’s interplay into something more muscular and menacing. They invite Ian McColm back into the fold, already an integral part of Distances, and they tee Other Worlds up to become one of their most searing sets yet. Like the title implies, this is Elkhorn from another dimension, one where clouds gather on all horizons and a shudder of doom rises from the earth. The new album is out July 5th from Feeding Tube and Cardinal Fuzz.
