Edena Gardens – “Dusted”
Edena Gardens have hit an incredibly prolific streak over the last few years, with two albums already landing — 2022s’s eponymous affair and a follow-up at the beginning of 2023. Throw in a live album this year as well, and it would be enough for any band to be breathless. Yet, the cosmic clouds have gathered once more and the band completes a trilogy of albums with the release of Dens in December. “Dusted” locks into the band’s patient dampness, padding through the speakers with a menacing slink. Holding the tempos somewhere between slowcore and the post-rock ripple of Chicago’s aughts boom, with a good gloss of homegrown Copenhagen jazz-psych in the mix, the cut finds Nicklas Sørensen’s guitars curling around the listener with ill intentions. Any new works out of the El Paraiso stable peak interest around here, but the quickly expanding catalog of Edena Gardens is definitely becoming a favorite among label’s offerings. The new album, Dens, is out December 1st from El Paraiso Records.
