Echolalia – “Odd Energy”

The end of the year always winds up busy and even the best things can fall through the cracks. Case in point, the first single from new band Echolalia dipped my radar but it’s well deserving of some early year attention. The band brings together a cadre of Nashville studio heads, including longtime RSTB fave Spencer Cullum (Miranda Lambert, Weird Ears) alongside Andrew Combs (Erin Rae), Dominic Billett (Erin Rae, The Kernal), Jordan Lehning (Kacey Muskgraves), Jason Lehning (The Silver Seas), and Juan Solorzano. The majority of the bunch have also been found together in Cullum’s band Coin Collection. Decamping to a rural studio on the Isle of Wight, the band channeled their English folk surroundings. First single “Odd Energy” mixes lilting instrumentals with deep furrows of prog, humming on rhythm and swirled with synth and steel. The band’s eponymous debut album is out February 28th from Full Time Hobby.
