Dummy – “Blue Dada” (+ “Opaline Bubbletear”)
Dummy’s upcoming album has been a treasure trove of singles as they approach the run up to its release, and the band throws another prize in the pot with “Blue Dada.” As a bonus, the new video slips in the palette cleanser that’s positioned before it on the album, the cosmic sax swirl of “Opaline Bubbletear.” The song features longtime RSTB fave Cole Pulice on sax, adding their aura of downy comfort to the album before the burble kicks back into motion on the single. “Blue Dada” finds Dummy pinning synth comforts and silken vocals to a baggy beat, feeling a touch nostalgic, but running ‘90s memories through a progressive filter, snipping sediment from the motorik shores of NEU as often as the they borrow a few noise bursts from Stereolab. The new album, Free Energy, is out September 7th from Trouble in Mind.
